Extended Children’s Laboratory Health Panel
1. Package name and overview
Twenty-one tests assessing blood counts, iron status, vitamins, minerals, metabolic markers, liver and kidney indicators, electrolytes and urine findings. Results use age-appropriate interpretation.
Tests listed: 21.
2. What each test measures
- •AST Activity — AST is an enzyme found in the liver and other tissues. A rise can occur with liver injury, muscle injury or other causes, so it is assessed with other results.
- •ALT Activity — ALT is an enzyme used to assess possible liver-cell injury; a high result does not identify the cause on its own.
- •GGT Activity — GGT is an enzyme associated with the liver and biliary system. It helps interpret other liver enzyme changes but is not disease-specific.
- •Total Cholesterol — Measures total blood cholesterol and contributes to assessment of cardiovascular risk alongside other factors.
- •Triglycerides — Measures a type of circulating fat; concentrations are affected by eating, alcohol and metabolic health.
- •HDL-Cholesterol — Measures HDL cholesterol, which is considered with other lipid measures when estimating cardiovascular risk.
- •LDL-Cholesterol — Measures LDL cholesterol, an important factor in assessing atherosclerotic cardiovascular risk.
- •Complete Blood Count (26 parameters, laser counter) — Measures red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets and related indices; it can help identify patterns associated with anaemia, infection or blood disorders.
- •Calci toàn phần — Measures total calcium in blood. Results are influenced by blood protein levels and may need further evaluation if abnormal.
- •Serum Iron — Measures circulating iron, which varies during the day and is best interpreted with ferritin and other clinical information.
- •Magie — Measures magnesium, an electrolyte involved in muscle, nerve and other physiological processes.
- •Electrolyte Test (Na, K, Cl) — Measures sodium, potassium and chloride to help assess fluid and electrolyte balance.
- •Quantitative Glucose (Blood) — Measures blood glucose at the time of collection; it is used in diabetes assessment or monitoring in the appropriate context.
- •Urinalysis (semi-automated method) — Checks selected chemical and physical urine markers that may suggest urinary or metabolic issues; abnormal results may need confirmation.
- •Folate / Serum1 — Measures serum folate (vitamin B9), used when assessing certain nutritional or anaemia-related concerns.
- •Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin) (B12) 1 — Measures vitamin B12; the result may help assess suspected deficiency and should be interpreted with symptoms and blood count.
- •Vitamin D total1 — Measures total 25-hydroxy vitamin D, commonly used to assess vitamin D status.
- •Ferritin — Measures ferritin, a marker related to iron stores; inflammation can also raise the result.
- •Zinc (kẽm) — Measures zinc status in blood; values can be affected by inflammation and specimen collection conditions.
- •Quantitative Creatinine — Measures creatinine, used with age and other information to evaluate kidney filtration.
- •Quantitative Urea — Measures urea, influenced by kidney function, hydration and protein metabolism.
3. Who this package is suitable for
Children with specific dietary, growth or health concerns when testing is clinically indicated, or children following an existing paediatric care plan.
4. How to prepare
Agree on any fasting requirement based on age and the tests ordered. Ask for urine collection guidance. Tell the team about supplements, particularly vitamin or mineral products.
